Beautiful Chaos and Retro Movie Set Vibes
This might have been a styled shoot rather than a real wedding, but honestly? It had enough beautiful chaos, laughter, and “what on earth is happening?” moments to feel like the most gloriously quirky day ever. When the fabulous Kate from Lucky Penny Weddings slid into my messages, I practically launched myself at the opportunity. Ultimately, her plan was to showcase her jaw-dropping fleet of vintage wedding transport in Hertfordshire, featuring retro cars and buses that look like they’ve driven straight out of a movie set.
Retro Charm and Countryside Glory
You might think those cars speak for themselves, and you’d be absolutely right. However, Kate wanted them performing a full West-End show, lined up together in all their autumnal glory. Therefore, we headed for the rolling hills to capture some retro charm with a bit of my usual photography magic sprinkled over the top.
Kate gathered her dream team faster than you can say “vintage wedding bus hire.” Before we knew it, we were out in the countryside bringing her vision to life. Of course, every styled shoot needs a model couple, so enter Anna and Arthur, our gorgeous, golden-hour-loving dream duo.
“Brum Brums” and Boho Brides
The vehicles lined up beautifully, and obviously, I had to throw in a little “brum brum” because staring at a lineup of classic cars without making noises should be illegal. Meanwhile, Arthur hopped on a retro tractor, looking like a farmyard supermodel. Soon after, our guest of honour appeared: a chicken named “Special” who spent the entire shoot supervising us like an unofficial event coordinator.
Everything eventually came together with bright florals and makeup wizardry. Consequently, when Anna appeared, she looked like a glowing boho bride straight out of a Pinterest board. Indeed, even the drone got in on the action, capturing a moment where the vehicles were positioned in the shape of a heart with our couple in the centre.
Why Do Photographers Love Styled Shoots?
You’ve probably seen those dreamy photos where the dress floats perfectly. In fact, photographers love styled shoots because they are our creative gym session. It’s where my brain goes into creative hyperdrive pure ADHD joy with no one tapping their watch.
A real wedding day is a beautiful, heart-bursting, slightly chaotic beast. On the other hand, styled shoots give me the luxury of time. Because there is no rushing, I can spend 20 minutes experimenting with silhouettes and quirky angles. Ultimately, they let me showcase the beautifully unposed magic I adore.
Real Magic vs. The Highlight Reel
While styled shoots create stunning inspiration, they’ll never replace the real magic of your day. Your wedding is where the stories happen the dogs stealing the spotlight and the grandma smashing the dance floor. Undoubtedly, no styled shoot can stage the way your partner looks at you for the first time.
Therefore, I do these shoots to stretch my creativity and show you what’s possible with vintage wedding transport in Hertfordshire. But your wedding photos? Those will always be the ones filled with heart, soul, and all the beautifully messy moments.
