Relaxed Auberge du Lac Wedding | Hertfordshire

When I say photographing Lauren and Rachel’s Auberge du Lac wedding was an absolute joy, I mean the full-on, heart-bursting, grin-so-wide-it-hurts kind of joy. Their intimate celebration was proof that when you surround yourselves with your favourite humans (and a couple of Bengal cats), magic just happens. Ultimately, my job was simply to capture that unpretentious energy as it unfolded.

Morning Prep, Bengal Cats, and Next-Door Neighbours

Getting ready was never going to be an issue for these two beauties. Lauren got ready in their own home, and Rachel was literally next door. Because they live right beside Lauren’s mum, I basically did a professional-level hop, skip, and jump between houses. Honestly, this zero-travel setup should win an award!

Meanwhile, the homes were buzzing with family. The flower girls kept me thoroughly entertained with chaos, giggles, and lots of glitter. Furthermore, the two Bengal cats decided I was obviously there to pet them. Soon after the snacks were cleared, it was time for the dresses.

Structured Satin and Soft Chiffon Details

Their styles were flawlessly complementary. Both brides carried stunning, matching pastel bouquets, which tied their looks together perfectly.

Rachel opted for structured elegance. Consequently, her satin gown featured an off-the-shoulder folded collar, a modern front slit, and side seam pockets giving it a relaxed yet luxurious feel. Lauren, on the other hand, chose soft romance. Her flowing chiffon gown featured a beautifully ruched bodice and an intricate beaded band of pearls. Once they were dressed, both brides shared incredibly sweet, emotional first looks with their families before heading to the ceremony.

The Unsung Hero of this Auberge du Lac Wedding

Lauren headed to the registry office first, followed by Rachel in a sleek limousine. Everyone settled in for a beautiful moment… until Rachel quietly whispered that she had forgotten something fairly important. The actual wedding rings.

Cue Rachel’s brother becoming the absolute hero of the day by doing a swift trip back home to rescue them. Thankfully, because they had the last ceremony slot, the registrars were in no rush. Once the rings made their dramatic return, it was game on. As they walked down the aisle, the love between them filled the room in that deep, quiet, powerful way that reminds you exactly why LGBTQ+ weddings matter so much.

Lakeside Portraits and Golf Buggy Shenanigans

Once they were officially married, we headed over to Brocket Hall for their Auberge du Lac wedding reception. As a documentary photographer, this Hertfordshire venue is basically a playground. It offers lakeside views, soft golden light, and just enough fancy-but-relaxed energy to make magic.

While the newlyweds mingled, I whisked them away for some sunset-soft couple portraits. They were completely in the moment, laughing and soaking it all in. Then, they spontaneously jumped onto a random golf buggy because… why not? Iconic behaviour.

Netball Bibs and Homemade Cake

Because these two are super-fit Letchworth Women’s Rugby Club and netball players, they brought their kit along. Naturally, it would have been rude not to get some key sporting moves of them in their team bibs on the lawn. Peak couple goals, honestly.

Finally, we wrapped up by admiring the spectacular homemade cake lovingly crafted by Lauren’s mum. It was an unforgettable Auberge du Lac wedding, full of warmth and moments that made my camera very happy.
