Styled shoot… not a real wedding. But honestly? This one had enough beautiful chaos, laughter, and “what on earth is happening now?” moments that it felt like the most gloriously quirky wedding day ever. When the fabulous Kate from Lucky Penny Weddings slid into my messages with her idea, I didn’t just say yes, I practically launched myself at the opportunity like an excited spaniel. Because when Kate has a vision, she has a proper, wedding-industry-grade vision.
Her plan? To showcase her jaw-dropping fleet of vintage wedding vehicles. We’re talking retro cars and buses that look like they’ve driven straight out of a movie set. It’s the ultimate find for couples looking for unique, stylish wedding transport inHertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and beyond. And let’s be honest… who doesn’t want to roll up to their wedding looking like 1950s royalty?
Now, you might think, “But Tracy, those cars speak for themselves!” And you’d be absolutely right. Buuuut Kate didn’t want them just speaking; she wanted them performing a full West-End show, lined up together in all their autumnal countryside glory. Think rolling hills, golden leaves, retro charm, and a bit of Hertfordshire wedding photographer magic sprinkled over the top.
Kate gathered her dream team faster than you can say “vintage wedding bushire.” Before we knew it, we were out in the countryside, collaborating and bringing her vision to life. Of course, every styled shoot needs a model couple, enter Anna and Arthur, our gorgeous, golden-hour-loving, boho-styled dream duo.
The vehicles lined up beautifully (thanks to Kate’s daughter and her partner Matt manoeuvring them like pros), and obviously, I had to throw in a little “brum brum” because staring at a lineup of vintage wedding cars without making noises should be illegal. While waiting for the glam squad, Arthur hopped on a retro tractor. He looked like a farmyard supermodel, driving past the fleet of vintage cars like the cover star of Countryside Digest.
Then came the behind-the-scenes VIPs… the chickens. One named “Special” spent the entire shoot supervising us like an unofficial event coordinator. Soon, everything came together: the bright wedding florals, the makeup wizardry, and then… cue Anna. She appeared like a glowing boho bride straight out of a Hertfordshire wedding Pinterest board.
Up above, the drone captured that unforgettable moment where the vehicles were positioned in the shape of a heart, with our couple in the centre. Peak romance. Peak creative wedding photography.
Why Do Wedding Photographers Do Styled Shoots?
You’ve probably seen those dreamy, Pinterest-worthy photos where the dress floats perfectly, and the couple looks hand-sculpted. Photographers LOVE styled shoots. They’re our creative gym session. It’s where my brain goes into creative hyperdrive, pure ADHD joy with no one tapping their watch.
A real wedding day is a beautiful, heart-bursting, slightly chaotic beast. On your big day, Auntie Brenda is shouting for the loo, the best man has wandered off, and kids are photobombing. Nobody is pausing the ceremony, so I can spend 20 minutes experimenting with silhouettes. Real-time weddings are brilliantly unpredictable.
Styled shoots, however, give me the luxury of TIME. No rushing. Just creativity and a whole lot of “ooooh let’s try this!” They let me showcase my style: natural light, candid energy, quirky angles, and all the beautifully unposed magic I adore.
The Real Magic vs. The Highlight Reel
While styled shoots create stunning wedding inspiration, they’ll never replace the REAL magic of your day. Your wedding is where the stories happen. The dogs stealing the spotlight, the flower girl refusing to walk, and your grandma smashing the dance floor like it’s 1978. No styled shoot can stage the way your partner looks at you for the first time.
- Styled shoots inspire me; your wedding day moves me.
- Styled shoots let me play; your wedding lets me tell your story.
- Styled shoots are curated; your wedding is alive.
So yes, I do styled shoots to stretch my creativity and show you what’s possible with vintage wedding transport and boho styling. But your wedding photos? Those will always be the ones filled with heart, soul, and all the beautifully messy moments that make your day uniquely yours.
